Sleep eludes. Limbs ache, muscles cramp. Eyes wide, stare unseeing. Darkness smothers, every sound jarring. Thoughts whirl. Tossing and turning. Until sunrise.
Snowflakes descend in the deafening silence, wind carving shapes in the fluffy quilt. Tree limbs sway, dislodging powder, whirling like jewels in the night.
